Gardener²¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-10| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy| OR: 128| D

10/3

Has taken rally well to chasing for new trainer Olly Murphy, winning 2m handicaps at Southwell and Carlisle (beat reopposing Carcaci Castle ½ length) on his completed starts. Likely capable of better again.

Form: 14-01U1

Ballycoose⁵⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-7| J: D A Jacob| T: S R B Crawford| OR: 125| CD

10/3

Course hurdle winner over 2m who built on his good second in 20.5f handicap hurdle here when making a successful start to his chase career at this venue (20.5f) last month, jumping boldly in front. The drop back to 2m shouldn't pose him an issue. Leading claims.

Form: 439/421

Carcaci Castle^p,t²¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-4| J: Ryan Mania| T: A M Thomson| OR: 122| D

11/2

Bumper/dual hurdle winner. Disappointed in handicap hurdles on his first 2 outings this winter but got his career back on track with first-time cheekpieces added to his tongue tie when ½-length second of 5 to Gardener on his Carlisle chase debut (2m, soft) 3 weeks ago. May do better.

Form: 11P-P02

Leitrim Chief⁴⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 10-6| J: B S Hughes| T: J Ewart| OR: 110

12/1

Lightly-raced maiden who has shown he retains ability in a pair of hurdles since returning from a long absence. Bred for fences but he's in a warm race for this first attempt on what is also his handicap debut.

Form: 7333/45

Forecasts

Traprain Law (13/8), Ballycoose (10/3), Gardener (10/3), Carcaci Castle (11/2), Leitrim Chief (12/1)

An interesting race. There was a lot to like about the way BALLYCOOSE attacked his fences when making a successful chase debut over a longer trip here at the turn of the year and he's selected to make light of a 5 lb rise. Gardener and Traprain Law may give him most to think about.
