Made a winning start over fences at Market Rasen in May before doubling his tally in this sphere at Southwell in November. Found nothing at Doncaster last time, though, so he has a bit to prove after such a disconcerting effort.

French bumper winner who struck in a Huntingdon maiden hurdle a year ago. Form has plateaued over hurdles but this sort of trip should suit and he's not ruled out in an open contest on chase debut.

Ran creditably in a trio of chases for Mel Rowley last spring. Possibly needed run after 10-month absence when sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (25f, heavy) 27 days ago. Should be sharper now back over fences.

Has slipped in the weights and took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 9 in handicap chase (14/1) at Hereford (20.9f, good to soft) 34 days ago. Jumping remains a concern but this looks a winnable contest.

Forecasts

Sageburg County (6/4), Imperial Bede (15/8), Family Business (4/1), Heartbreak Kid (4/1), Key Commander (6/1)

Verdict

Hard to make an overly convincing case for any of the quintet, with IMPERIAL BEDE chanced to find some improvement for the switch to fences, this kind of trip having always appealed as suitable for Jonjo O'Neill's gelding. Key Commander was in decent heart last spring and is also respected after a recent spin over hurdles, whilst Sageburg County would also merit plenty of respect if arriving on his A-game, for all his recent Doncaster effort was concerning.
