After 19 months off (left Sam Thomas), shaped as if as good as ever when making the frame in handicap chases first 2 starts this season, albeit jumping none too fluently. However, ran poorly over hurdles last 2 outings, so needs to get back on track returned to chasing.

Successful on sole outing in points and made a winning start over hurdles in March 2022. No great impact in 2 runs last term but, following a wind op, shaped well sent chasing when second in Exeter handicap (24.2f) in November. Leading contender with improvement to come.

Useful chaser at his best, but remains without a win in this sphere and only 17¾ lengths fourth of 6 in handicap at Aintree (25f) on Boxing Day. Drop back down in grade should help at least.

Point winner who made a successful bumper debut under Rules. Placed all 3 starts over hurdles in 2021/22 and, after 22 months off, showed aptitude for chasing before unseating at this course (19.4f) in December. However, needs to bounce back from a lesser effort last time.

Point winner who has shown improved form switched to chasing this season, winning handicaps at Huntingdon on his first 2 starts in this sphere. Upped in grade, ran well in defeat when third at Newcastle (23.4f) 40 days ago and he could be thereabouts once more.

Fair winning hurdler but was fortunate to fill the runner-up spot in Warwick handicap on chase debut and was pulled up next time. However, in first-time cheekpieces he showed something closer to his hurdles form when third at Exeter (24.2f) a month ago. Shortlisted.

Fair winner over hurdles in 2022/23 and has run to a similar level on his last 2 starts in handicap chases, plugging on for fourth at Exeter (the repopposing Pachacuti ahead in third) on New Year's Day. Can give his running again.

Remains a maiden over fences but ran better than for a while when third in handicap at Leicester (20.1f) 22 days ago. Is a long way out of the weights here, though, so he looks to be up against it.

A winning pointer, PIMLICO POINT improved on his hurdles form at the first attempt sent chasing when runner-up at Exeter in November, staying on well, and he can build on that effort to go one better. Regarde has taken well to chasing this season and is respected, with Pachacuti completing the shortlist.
