Failed to land a gamble when fourth of 8 at Catterick (15.7f) last time but that effort represented a step back in the right direction nonetheless. Down another 2 lb (now 28 lb lower than for his last success in July 2022) and must have a huge shout dropping further in grade.

Just bits and pieces of form when trained by Vincent Laurence Halley in Ireland and offered little after 11 weeks off on yard debut at Catterick last month.

Fair 2m winner over hurdles who got off the mark in this sphere in a weak contest over C&D in October. Rather predictably not in anywhere near the same form at Catterick 6 weeks later and is easy to oppose given his profile.

Offered next to nothing in a bumper/over hurdles but having attracted support, proved a different proposition sent chasing despite being 9 lb out of the weights when scoring at Hexham (15.6f, heavy) on return last month. Step up in trip should pose no problems so he's one to consider.

Off the mark in emphatic fashion over fences at Market Rasen in October 2022 but not much to write home about since (including over hurdles). 10 lb lower than when last seen in this sphere and needs the switch back over fences to spark a revival.

Went backwards from a tough race on his reappearance at Southwell but back on track when fourth of 11 in handicap chase at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) last month. It's now 14 starts since his last success, however.

Course winner in November. Folded as if amiss home turn and pulled up quickly in handicap chase (9/4) at Hexham (20.1f, heavy) last month but remains handily weighted if back on song.

Runner-up twice last spring (including here) but has been below par this winter. Mark drops another 4 lb but needs to show more stepped back up in trip. Had a wind operation.

Won 3 times over fences (twice around here). Recent efforts not all that inspiring and a return to chasing failed to spark him back to life over C&D in November, merely passing beaten horses having gone in snatches. Down another 3 lb but very hard to fancy.

Alhough unable to justify strong support at Catterick last month, DR SANDERSON still took a big step back in the right direction from a tumbling mark so Ben Haslam's 10-y-o gets the nod to snap a losing streak dating back to summer 2022 at the expense of Heeztheboy, who proved a different proposition sent chasing when scoring at Hexham recently and could well build on that here. Bebside Banter and Eurkash can fight out third.
