Very lightly-raced for his age and, though yet to get his head in front in this sphere, he has finished in the money on all but one of his 7 starts over fences. Solid third of 9 on return at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) and major player off the same mark here.

Winning Irish pointer who made a successful hurdles debut at Ayr last November. Too keen on return/chase debut at Hexham then flattered to finish second upped to 3m at Uttoxeter (heavy) where he was left in a remote second after two rivals departed 3 out. Now tried in blinkers.

Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland for Gordon Elliott. Fair efforts first 2 starts in handicap chases for present yard and while he was well held at Kelso last time, this 6-y-o would have a chance if able to get back on track off a reduced mark here.

Made winning Rules debut in a Worcester novice hurdle in spring 2021. Better for chase debut when third at Southwell final start last term but, having been sold out of Dan Skelton's yard for only £5,500 in May, he made a low-key debut for this yard at Carlisle.

Point/hurdles winner who got better with each run over fences last season, second to a subsequent winner at Uttoxeter final start. Shaped as if needing the run at Ffos Las on return and, with his yard in much better form now, he should have a part to play.

Winning pointer who ran best race over hurdles when second of 4 in handicap at Chepstow final start. Failed to meet expectations sent chasing after 8 months off there last month but remains of interest in view of what he showed over hurdles and perhaps the addition of cheekpieces will help.

SOUTHERN SAM had a hard race when third on his reappearance on deep ground at Wetherby but he's had 42 days to recover from those exertions and is appealing off the same mark. It wasn't the brightest of starts that Rouge de L'Quest made over fences at Chepstow but this winning pointer has been eased 3 lb since and he may well leave that effort behind now equipped with cheekpieces. Cases can also be made for Cardamon Hill and Gold Emery.
