Consistent type over hurdles and returned to winning ways in handicap at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in June, battling well. Ran creditably in a pair of runs of the Flat since and he looks to hold leading claims back over timber.

Made a winning hurdles debut for Joseph Patrick O'Brien back in June 2021 and doubled his tally on his first start for his current yard later that summer. Added another success in C&D novice in March last year, so he's one to note despite his lengthy absence.

Took advantage of his falling mark over fences at Bangor in May and, after a below-par run the following month (had a wind op subsequently), bounced back to form when runner-up at this course (19.3f) 40 days ago. Enters calculations from his lower mark over hurdles.

With a recent run behind her, recorded her second win of the season when scoring at Newcastle (16.7f) in November. However, failed to repeat that effort from her 7 lb higher mark at Market Rasen 2 weeks later, so she needs to get back on the up.

Has improved this season, getting off the mark in a Hexham novice in May before following up in C&D handicap on his return in November. Shaped as if still in form upped in trip at Aintree (24.7f) on testing ground last time, so he can give another good account.

Fairly useful chase/hurdle winner at best in France but pulled up in 3 outings over hurdles for his current yard. Falling in the weights but has enough to prove at present.

Below form at the beginning of the campaign but, having had a wind op, has shown better signs on his last 2 starts. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when seventh of 8 at Carlisle (25f) 9 days ago, so he's not written off back down in trip/grade.

Forecasts

Harper Valley (6/5), Mothill (9/4), Heartbreak Kid (5/1), Golfe Clair (12/1), Moonlight Glory (14/1), Palm Beach (25/1), Polisud (33/1)

Verdict

MOTHILL is a reliable type, gaining his third success over hurdles at Uttoxeter in June, and after a couple of creditable efforts on the Flat he can add to his tally back in this sphere. The 5-y-o is taken to get the better of Heartbreak Kid, who is respected from his lower mark back over hurdles, with Golfe Clair also considered.
