Finally took advantage of a much-reduced mark returning from 7 months off at Uttoxeter in May and followed up over same C&D a month later. Struggled in the Grand Sefton on return at Aintree (21f, heavy) but this is not so competitive and forecast better ground here will help.

Useful in France and matched that form for David Pipe when landing 3m handicap chases at Southwell and here in March 2022. Successful on second start for new yard back in France in October and latest effort at Sandown was decent but others make more appeal all the same.

Drew a blank over hurdles for current connections but was a winning chaser in France and struck at the second attempt over fences on these shores at Ffos Las (19.4f, heavy) last month. 5 lb rise fair enough and should make his presence felt.

Several creditable efforts in defeat last season and put a couple of poor efforts behind him when landing a 6-runner contest from the front here (24.2f, soft) last time. 3 lb nudge fair and while this is more demanding, he has to enter calculations given his record at this course.

Won 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles (both here) last term and scored at Bangor (20.3f, good to firm) on second of his two completed starts in this sphere. However, pulled up both starts so far this season and now has a bit to prove.

Did very well in his first season chasing last term, winning twice over 2½m at Huntingdon. Runner-up both starts this time round and another bold show is anticipated, for all that he's edged up to a career-high mark.

Opened hurdles account on final start of last season in a Warwick maiden and, following a 7-month break, he followed up on chase debut over C&D (soft). Only gone up 3 lb and, with the promise of better to come, he's a strong candidate.

It wasn't a particularly strong race in which SCENE ONE made a winning chase debut over C&D last month but he is open to improvement in this sphere and is taken to follow up. Cases can, to an extent, be made for all six of his rivals, with William Cody and Georges Saint feared most (in that order of preference) based on recent exploits.
