Lightly-raced 5-y-o who shaped well in a first-time tongue strap when third past the post in 10-runner C&D handicap (good to soft, 4/1) 21 days ago, promoted to second having been bumped again late on. Can gain compensation.

Modest maiden who was in the process of running well when departing late at Downpatrick in May. Not in the same form at Kilbeggan when last seen in July but has made an interesting stable switch and market support would be noteworthy.

Seemed to show more spark when third over hurdles at Plumpton (25f) in February. Not matched that since but shaped as if needing the run back from 6 months off at Chepstow recently and is well weighted.

Winner of a Downpatrick handicap in Ireland for Colin McBratney but has offered little all 3 starts for new yard this season.

Promise on final start in bumpers but was a most fortunate winner of a 5-runner novice at Sedgefield in April, well adrift before being left clear last. Predictably found life hard back down in trip under a penalty at Warwick 6 months later and has been handed a stiff-looking mark.

Seen to maximum effect when opening her account in a Newcastle handicap (23.7f) in March. Did too much too soon there on her final outing last season and understandably looked a shade rusty when sixth of 10 over C&D on her return 3 weeks ago. Cheekpieces back on.

Maiden pointer who showed first form in a first-time tongue strap from 7 lb out of the weights when third in a 10-runner C&D handicap (good to soft, 40/1) 21 days ago (second past the post but subsequently disqualified). Needs to back that up now.

Forecasts

A Dublin Job (11/8), Diamond Twin (2/1), Fine By Her (5/1), Dr Lockdown (8/1), Howzat Hiris (10/1), Beaufort West (10/1), It's Maisy (12/1), Journey West (28/1)

Verdict

DIAMOND TWIN was done no favours by the reopposing Dr Lockdown on the run-in over C&D 3 weeks ago, so Dan Skelton's 5-y-o is taken to gain compensation. Beaufort West is potentially very well handicapped now and should be all the better for a recent run, with A Dublin Job also feared on debut for Harry Derham.
