Fair maiden on Flat (stays 10.7f) but went with no encouragement tried over hurdles when tailed-off last at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) last month. Can only be watched.

Well held in Haydock maiden on sole start on Flat in September 2022 but showed more sent hurdling when fourth at Cartmel (17.2f, soft) in August, shaping much better than the distance beaten suggested (finished tired). Entitled to build on that here.

Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 10.5f), won twice in 2023. Every chance he needed the run when down the field at Hamilton when last seen in September and he's respected making his hurdling debut.

Won pair of handicaps on the level this summer and again ran creditably when third at Hamilton last month. Made a discouraging start to hurdling career when well beaten over C&D just over 3 weeks ago so will need to leave that effort well behind. Blinkers back on.

2/1
Fair performer on Flat, stays 1¼m. Below expectations at Beverley (8.4f, soft) in August and sold from Richard Fahey (10,000 gns) the following month. Likely sort now hurdling in thin maiden for a new yard.

Forecasts

Leap Year Lad (15/8), Three Yorkshiremen (2/1), Rory The Cat (7/2), Cofficionado (4/1), Best Guess (80/1)

Verdict

The betting will obviously tell a tale given a couple are hurdling debutants, but preference is for THREE YORKSHIREMEN, who was a little expensive to follow for Richard Fahey but could well be up to making a winning start in this sphere for his new stable. There was enough promise in Cofficionado's hurdling debut effort, so he's put forward as the main danger, with Leap Year Lad rounding off the shortlist.
