Sri Lanka - The Jewel Of Asia Handicap Hurdle

Caused a major upset when making all on British/hurdles debut at Newbury in December but has proved far too headstrong since. Switches to a handicap with hood back on and hopes pinned on him calming down.

Fair form in 2 starts on the Flat and built on his hurdles debut second at Compiegne when going one better in ready fashion at Taunton in January. Back on song returned to a right-handed track when doubling tally at Taunton in April and he's in top hands ahead of this return/handicap debut.

Novice season tailed off quite badly but right back on song when finding only one too good on last month's reappearance at Plumpton back at 2m. Needs to travel with a bit more zest in what looks a slightly stronger race.

Back with former yard and won 6-runner handicap after 21 months off at Leicester in November, responding well. Brushed aside in a deeper race at Chepstow 3 months later but stepped up on that when fifth in 8-runner event at Newbury when last seen in March. Not getting any younger but capable fresh.

Left previous efforts well behind to get off the mark in 14-runner novice at Taunton in March. Sound second under a penalty over same C&D a month later and now has attentions switched to handicaps.

Fairly useful winner on the Flat for Mick Channon who opened his account over hurdles in a 19.4f Doncaster handicap in March. Fell heavily at Warwick next time and might have been amiss to back out of things so swiftly at Cheltenham on final outing.

Useful handicapper on the level for William Jarvis. Has made a positive start over hurdle too, landing Huntingdon novice and good Sandown handicap third in the spring. Fit from the Flat and shaped quite nicely back with Lucy Wadham when third at Plumpton 3 weeks ago.

Bumper/hurdles winner who recorded a career best when making a successful reappearance at Warwick a year ago. Labouring a long way out from his revised mark at Cheltenham a month later and off the track since, but fresh could be the time to catch him.

Made winning start on yard/hurdles bow in a novice a year ago and has won 4 times on the level since. Looks very well treated back over hurdles so the one to beat with Hughes booked.

Fairly useful form on the Flat in Ireland and has made a sound start to his hurdle career for new stable, placed twice before landing the odds at Haydock in March. Low-key start to handicap career a month later, not looking an easy ride on either occasion. Headgear removed for reappearance.
