Useful for Paul Nicholls in 2021 and made a good start for his new stable after 14 months off when runner-up at this C&D (good to soft) 9 months ago, going with his usual zest out in front. High on the shortlist making his return.

Ended 2021/22 season on a winning note in this race and picked up where he left off by landing 17f Kelso handicap on return last December. Not hit those heights since, but clearly goes well fresh so could bounce back from a career-low mark on return.

Back on track when edged out at Kelso in May and has continued the good work since, winning small field handicaps at Perth and at former course on his next 2 starts. Chased home a useful type again at Kelso last time so he's a big player from a 2 lb lower mark.

Returned to winning ways when taking handicap at Stratford in July and better effort there since when runner-up 19 days later. Disappointing at Kelso next time but more like it when fourth at Wetherby (15.2f, good) 3 weeks ago. May prove vulnerable to younger legs here.

Found improvement on first start for new yard when winning handicap chase at Sedgefield last month and again ran well when runner-up back there 8 days later, looking in control home turn (traded 1.11 in-running). Likely to find a couple too strong in this.

This can go the way of FIDELIO VALLIS, who shaped as if as good as ever on his first outing since leaving Paul Nicholls when runner-up over C&D back in February and having gone well fresh in the past, he can go a place better following another absence. Cedar Hill arrives at the top of his game, so he's put forward as the main danger, with Dreams of Home taken to fill third spot.
