Three-time winner of 1½m handicaps in 2022 and back to form the last twice, hitting the crossbar at Carlisle and Brighton. Fully effective in the mud and, with this drop back in trip unlikely to be an issue, he's a leading contender.

Runner-up 3 times on the bounce during the summer prior to getting his head back in front in a 1¼m Leicester selling handicap (final start for Charlie Johnston). Below par in 4 runs for present connections, though, and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Cheekpieces refitted.

Didn't shape badly on debut over 7f at Newcastle in January, but has failed to build on that in 3 subsequent starts. Gelded since latest run and big step forward now upped in trip for this handicap bow.

Improved when encountering testing conditions for the first time at Brighton (1¼m, heavy) recently, landing a 10-runner handicap in decisive fashion. 6 lb rise fair enough and, with the mud again likely to be flying, he has to enter calculations.

Infrequent winner nowadays and this will be his first appearance on turf for well over 2 years. Handled slow ground earlier in his career, but it's a guessing game how he'll react to conditions this testing and, though on a workable mark, others make more appeal.

Successful off 2 lb lower mark at Windsor (11.5f, good to firm) in June and placed on a few occasions since. Below par in the heavy-ground Brighton handicap won by Roman Tempest recently (first run following a wind op), though, and would probably prefer a quicker surface.

Runner-up on debut in 6f Brighton maiden at 2 yrs, but appears to have gone the wrong way since and she's hard to warm to.

Produced much his best effort to date when third in a 14-runner Bath handicap (1m, good) with first-time cheekpieces enlisted in July. However, he hasn't managed to reproduce that form in 2 subsequent starts, again looking a hard ride at Newcastle last time.

Little to shout about in 5 outings for Micky Hammond and hopes pinned on the change of scenery (making debut for new yard here) sparking improvement.

Sparingly campaigned and winless since landing this race off a similar mark (and under similar conditions) in 2020. Wasn't beaten that far on belated reappearance at Beverley in June and each-way claims if ready to roll following another break.

Just minor promise in half-a-dozen runs for Robyn Brisland and makes limited appeal judged on what she showed starting out for this yard at Ayr.

Remains a maiden following 9 attempts, but went close on slow ground at Beverley in July. Wasn't disgraced from 4 lb out of the weights back at that course (1¼m, heavy) last time and, able to race off his correct mark here, he's one to consider.

The vote goes to FEN TIGER, who has returned to form the last twice and, with conditions no problem, he is taken to deservedly get his head back in front. Roman Tempest will be a serious threat if backing up his recent Brighton success with similar conditions forecast, while Have You A Minute is another who appears to be suited by plenty of cut in the ground and he is third choice.
