Smart staying novice hurdler last season, finishing second in 3m Grade 1s at the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festival. This former point winner rates a top chase prospect.

Poor form over hurdles and fences. Out of his depth.

Looked useful when winning maiden and novice hurdles at the beginning of 2022 but he hasn't been seen since pulling up in a 3m Grade 1 at that year's Punchestown Festival. This former point winner still has time on his side but betting is perhaps the best guide after such a long spell out.

Useful novice hurdler last season but finished 6 lengths behind Affordale Fury when fourth (Franciscan Rock short head up in third) in 3m Punchestown Grade 1 on his final start. Point background suggests he should prove as good over fences for a top yard with a good record in this.
|
Timeform
Fair hurdler. Well held on his Limerick chase debut when last seen in May and outsider on return to action.
|
Timeform
Fairly useful hurdler for Eugene O'Sullivan. Disappointingly below that level on course chase debut for Willie Mullins at the beginning of this month but it's still early days with his top new yard.

Forecasts

Verdict

A cracking maiden chase. AFFORDALE FURY could develop into one of the best staying novice chasers around this season and can make the perfect start and provide Noel Meade with a third successive win in this contest. Gordon Elliott is another trainer who does well in this race and his Favori de Champdou can give the selection most to do.
