Useful handicapper who tasted success twice over hurdles during second half of last year. Mixed bag under both codes in handful of starts but returned to form when second in minor event hurdle in Sweden 6 weeks ago.

Improved when winning C&D handicaps (heavy/good to firm) in the spring on his first 2 outings for this yard and similar form (despite a very slow start) when fourth of 8 in handicap back here 5 weeks ago. Conditions no problem and he's a player.

Useful operator for Joseph O'Brien and not far off that level for current yard, again finding only a 3-y-o too strong from his reduced mark at York (10.2f) 2 weeks ago. Fancied to go well again.

Responded well to fitting of blinkers, gaining second career success at Ascot (10f, soft) in May. Not disgraced from revised mark either start thereafter at up to 12f and since changed hands for 170,000gns and return to a softer surface will hold no fears.

Successful on return at Kempton (1m) in March and essentially remained in form since, lining up here on the back of a creditable second of 5 in handicap at Chester (10.3f) in August. Ground will hold no fears and no reason why he won't give another good account.

Is really getting his act together now, beating a subsequent winner at Kempton (1m) in August and nicely on top at the line as he brought up the hat-trick over 1m here (heavy) 5 weeks ago. Unexposed at this trip and highly unlikely he's reached his limit yet.

Made a bright start for new yard, landing handicaps at Haydock/Windsor (at up to 11.5f) and he looked unlucky not to finish closer having been short of room at latter-named venue 12 days ago. Clearly at the top of his game at present and possibilities again.

Seemed to be going through the motions but tumbled down the weights and, with the headgear discarded he resumed winning ways at Newmarket (10f) 4 weeks ago, staying on to lead well inside final 1f. This looks a little tougher, however.

Recorded a third win of this campaign at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy) in September and matched that when runner-up back at that venue 17 days ago, bumping into an unexposed sort. Should give another good account with conditions very much in his favour.

CITY OF YORK has improved at a rate of knots in recent months, nicely on top at the line as he brought up the hat-trick over 1m here 5 weeks ago. Proven on testing ground and unexposed at this sort of trip, he's fancied to make another bold bid. Western Stars and Mustazeed head up the dangers, with Toshizou also in the mix.
