Stepped up on his debut effort when landing 13-runner maiden at Doncaster (7f, heavy) last autumn. Creditable third on AW return and something presumably wasn't right when last of 7 on his Newmarket handicap debut in May (off since). Returns as a lightly-raced 3-y-o but his mark looks tough.

C&D winner. Latest win at Newmarket (7f) in June. Well held at Doncaster last month but he's not the type to stay down for long.
Won a C&D maiden in the mud in May and followed up in an AW novice in June. Disappointed on 1m handicap debut but quickly back on track returned to 7f when fourth of 17 at York in blinkers (retained) last month. That was promising and there should be more to come.
Ploughed through the mud to win at Chester (7f) in May but has been unable to reproduce that form since, including when fifth back at Chester 17 days ago. Below that winning mark can't be confident he's in form.
Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Produced his best turf effort for some time when good second of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, soft) in July but only a respectable fourth on AW since.
Winner off 2 lb higher on heavy at Newbury last October. Below par since reappearance third at Redcar but better signs at Salisbury last time and he's well treated if first-time cheekpieces see him stage a full-scale revival.
C&D winner last year. Cashed in on a reduced mark in 9-runner handicap at Newmarket in July. Good second over same C&D next time and has gone too hard in front at Ayr the last twice (probably in better form than those results suggest).

Forecasts
Lowton (9/4), Hodler (3/1), Outrun The Storm (5/1), Able Kane (11/2), Marshal Dan (7/1), Legend Of Leros (10/1), Soar Above (28/1)
LOWTON shaped well in a big-field York handicap last month and looks good for a second C&D success of the year on the back of that. If first-time headgear has a positive effect Marshal Dan, who goes very well in the mud, could be the one to give the selection most to think about.
