Re-Gen Waste Novices' Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:40 | Winning time: 4m 59.90s

Claras Soldier¹⁶⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Daire Davis⁽⁷⁾| T: F O'Brien| OR: 88

12/1

Down the field in bumpers/over hurdles when completing last term. May do better chasing at a low level this season and returns in a thin contest. One to note.

Bari Breeze^p1,t²⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 11-13| J: Harry Reed| T: M F Harris| OR: 87

12/1

Bumper winner with a mixed record over hurdles and has shown very little over fences (never going/jumping well pretty early on at Worcester 4 weeks ago). Cheekpieces tried. Yard hitting their straps again.

Form: 4/9P-24P

Time To Bite³⁵⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-11| J: Bryan Carver| T: C Honour| OR: 85

11/2

0-22 in all codes over jumps, though running well (including over C&D) when last seen. Worth chancing in a thin race first time back after a year off.

Form: 6P3323-

Famoso¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-6| J: Stan Sheppard| T: M Sheppard| OR: 80| C

13/2

Finally opened his account (at the 17th time of asking under Rules) in 17f handicap chase here in August (rallied well). Not so good at Warwick since but this is easier and he could go well if staying.

Form: 762P15

Martalmix'jac^p,t1²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: Alex Edwards| T: Mrs M Rowley| OR: 72

11/2

Patchy record without victory over jumps. Tongue tie now added to cheekpieces and he's down another 5 lb in the weights (second in the novice handicap hurdle on this card last year off 91).

Form: F6-5385

Testflight⁴⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: Sean Houlihan| T: Mrs S Gardner| OR: 72

11/4

Poor maiden hurdler, well backed and went as if still in good form but failed to get home at Newton Abbot (26.5f) 7 weeks ago. Drops markedly in trip for chase debut.

Form: 37-5448

Ideallko¹⁵⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 10-9| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR: 69

11/4

Poor maiden hurdler who hasn't been disgraced in handicaps in that sphere the last twice. Makes chase debut down in trip on return and not dismissed.

Form: 0P04-7

Forecasts

Ideallko (11/4), Testflight (11/4), Martalmix'jac (11/2), Time To Bite (11/2), Famoso (13/2), Bari Breeze (12/1), Claras Soldier (12/1)

A low-grade event that can see TIME TO BITE make a successful return. He was second in this last year and has shown more than enough to take a race like this with a decent round of jumping. Famoso is a winner already over these fences and could figure back here if he stays. An improved showing from Bari Breeze fitted with cheekpieces for his in-form yard wouldn't be a total surprise.
