Mr Mafia^p³⁴

Age: 14| Weight: 12-2| J: Harry Atkins⁽¹⁰⁾| T: M Keighley| OR: 117| CD

28/1

Veteran campaigner who capitalised on some mercy from the assessor when making a winning return from 8 months off at Newton Abbot (25.8f, good) in July, closed down only late on. Failed badly to back that up when pulled up at that venue a month ago.

Captain Tommy^p,t²⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 12-0| J: Lily Pinchin| T: Ian Williams| OR: 115| C

8/1

Capitalised on free-falling mark over fences at Bangor (3m) in May and added to tally in 5-runner contest over the larger obstacles at Worcester in August. Didn't fare as well on rare hurdles start at Kelso but that effort probably best excused. Respected.

Blame The Game^p¹⁷⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 11-13| J: Freddie Gordon⁽³⁾| T: C Gordon| OR: 114| CD

9/2

Three handicap chase wins last season and shaped really well in a deep contest at Cheltenham when last seen in April. In excellent hands and he's of major interest from the same mark for return.

Form: 4112U4-

Putdecashonthedash^b,t²⁰²

Age: 10| Weight: 11-7| J: Finn Lambert| T: Kieran Burke| OR: 108| D

33/1

Signed off 2021/22 on a winning note at Plumpton but he rarely stands much racing and last season was a write-off.

Form: 51/PF0P-

Hipop Des Ongrais¹⁶³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Harry Kimber| T: R Walford| OR: 103| BF| C

85/40

Left chase bow well behind when winning at Fontwell in December. Signed off last season with a brace of third-place finishes but jumping remains an issue. Up in trip.

Form: 5/71833-

Red Happy^b,t³⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Gearoid Harney⁽⁸⁾| T: D Pipe| OR: 101

11/8

Scored 3 times (all 3m plus) in 2022, bagging handicap chases off much higher marks than this either side of landing the odds in a weak novice hurdle at Southwell. Not in anything like the same form so far this year, though, and it's easy to have reservations at present.

Form: 640-365

Forecasts

Red Happy (11/8), Hipop Des Ongrais (85/40), Blame The Game (9/2), Captain Tommy (8/1), Mr Mafia (28/1), Putdecashonthedash (33/1)

BLAME THE GAME signed off a productive 2022/23 campaign with an excellent effort in a big-field handicap at Cheltenham and given the yard he represents, fitness is no concern. He's a very appealing candidate, with Captain Tommy feared most back over the larger obstacles.
