Smart chaser. Two wins from 6 runs last season. Respectable fifth of 22 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, good to soft, 18/1) 26 days ago. Back down in trip and he's a key player.

Fairly useful chaser. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/1, below form fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Killarney (17f, good) 38 days ago. Would be meeting all of these rivals on significantly better terms if this were a handicap.

Smart chaser. 11/2, bit below form fourth of 12 in handicap chase at Galway (18.2f, soft) 22 days ago, doing too much too soon. Obvious claims.

Useful chaser. Three wins from 15 runs last season. 25/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at the Curragh (12f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Switches from Flat to chase. Dangerous if allowed too much rope in front.

Forecasts

Visionarian (10/11), Mt Leinster (11/8), Effernock Fizz (15/2), The Little Yank (12/1), Espion Du Chenet (25/1)

Verdict

This drop back in trip will help VISIONARIAN, who performed with credit in the Galway Plate last time, despite finding the 22.5f trip too stiff a test. He is an appealing alternative to likely favourite Mt Leinster, for all that, strictly speaking, he isn't entitled to beat that rival on these terms. Mt Leinster will be a big threat granted a clean round of jumping, while Effernock Fizz could give the aforementioned duo something to think about if allowed an easy lead.
