Noor Bano²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-12| J: Jefferson Smith| T: I Mohammed & J Santos| OR: 87

25/1

Off the mark in 14-runner maiden at Meydan (7f, good) in February. Shaped as if needing the run on Newmarket handicap debut 5 months on, though the handicapper looks to have taken little chance with her mark on her Dubai form.

Form: 36-3317

Jumbeau²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-10| J: P J McDonald| T: Tom Clover| OR: 85

5/1

Fairly useful sort who has acquitted herself well all 4 starts this term, latest when third of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good) 21 days ago. Merits consideration.

Form: 82-5223

(2)

Coco Jamboo⁴²

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: M Botti| OR: 81

13/2

Fairly useful sort who has been holding her form well this year, just not seen to best advantage the way the race developed when third of 8 at Newmarket (6f) 42 days ago. Likely to remain competitive.

Form: 21-2333

First Of May²⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Tom Marquand| T: J R Fanshawe| OR: 79| D

8/1

Showed improved form to get off the mark switched to all-weather at Newcastle in December and created a good impression when following up on Wolverhampton handicap debut 5 months later. Disappointed back on turf at Chester last time, though.

Form: 31-16

Couplet²⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: James Doyle| T: Harry Eustace| OR: 79| BF| CD

6/5

Made a winning start in quite taking fashion in 13-runner C&D maiden last September, staying on strongly. Improved on that form when runner-up under a penalty at Doncaster 10 months later and can go on improving on handicap debut.

Form: 1-2

(1)

Quandary⁷⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: H Crouch| T: E Bethell| OR: 75

11/2

Proved a different proposition on firmer ground than previously when opening her account in 9-runner novice event (9/1) at Pontefract (5f, good) in May, pushed out. That form has proven solid and there's potentially more to come from her now venturing into handicaps after a break.

Form: 351

(6)

Secret Mistral³⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-8| J: F Norton| T: A W Carroll| OR: 69| CD

16/1

C&D winner who looked a hard ride when fifth of 8 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm) 39 days ago, hanging left throughout. Others more persuasive.

Form: 124-935

Couplet (6/5), Jumbeau (5/1), Quandary (11/2), Coco Jamboo (13/2), First Of May (8/1), Secret Mistral (16/1), Noor Bano (25/1), Second Collection (25/1)

COUPLET built on her 2-y-o debut win when runner-up at Doncaster last month and appeals as the sort to go on improving for her excellent yard, so she's selected to make a successful start in handicaps from an opening mark that could seriously underestimate her. Jumbeau is proving consistent and ought to be on the premises again, with Quandary another handicap debutante to note.
