Brief Times^t¹⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: Harry Cobden| T: N P Mulholland| OR: 129| D

5/1

Often let down by his jumping but longer trip seemed to help in that regard when winning 5-runner handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) 17 days ago, outbattling the runner-up. May do better again over this trip.

Form: 153-P91

Irish Prophecy^t³⁰

Age: 10| Weight: 11-13| J: Joe Anderson⁽⁵⁾| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR: 128

16/1

Went close in a Warwick handicap chase in September and still appeared to be going well prior to capitulating after the third-last back from 7 months off at Cartmel (29.4f, good). Another tame finish back over hurdles since.

Form: P52P-R4

Saint Arvans^t¹³

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Conor Rabbitt⁽⁵⁾| T: M A Barnes| OR: 127| D

5/1

Took his record over fences to 5 wins from 10 completed starts in 5-runner handicap chase at Perth (23.8f, good). Not disgraced in Summer Plater at Market Rasen since and this much less competitive.

Form: 13-P315

Empire De Maulde^p,t⁷⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J Ewart| OR: 127

33/1

Decent strike rate but didn't show enough after 12 months off at Aintree in May to warrant serious interest.

Form: 2136/4-P

Topofthecotswolds^p²⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-11| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 126

8/1

Dual handicap chase winner last season. Back to form last 2 starts, second of 5 in handicap chase (3/1) at Worcester (23f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Respected.

Form: 13P-642

Grey Skies³³

Age: 7| Weight: 11-8| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 123| D

4/1

Maiden/novice hurdle winner last season. Might have been fortunate at Sedgefield but there was nothing lucky about his follow-up win at Perth in April. Close second at Cartmel before better than bare result there since. Up in trip (bred to stay well).

Form: 5411-26

Hawk's Well^p⁷⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 11-7| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR: 122| D

20/1

Winner of 2 of his first 3 starts over fences but well held after 19 months at Uttoxeter in May.

Form: 43141/P

Steel Wave^b,t¹⁷

Age: 13| Weight: 10-11| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽³⁾| T: G Hanmer| OR: 112| CD

22/1

Veteran who struck again at Stratford last month under this rider. Ran well under a penalty at Southwell 2 days later but this tougher.

Form: 3-13312

Daranova^v1⁷⁶

Age: 9| Weight: 10-6| J: Bryan Carver| T: G Hanmer| OR: 107| CD

14/1

Two 3m wins in May 2022 but struggling for form at present. Dipped below last winning mark at least. Change of headgear.

Form: 112P5-P

Honey I'm Good^t¹²^{(ex 7)}

Age: 7| Weight: 10-6| J: Isabel Williams⁽³⁾| T: Evan Williams| OR: 100| D

5/1

Multiple point winner who made a successful hunter chase debut at Chepstow (23.6f, good) in April and, after a lesser run over hurdles, went in again in handicaps at Newton Abbot next 2 starts. Plenty in hand and should take the beating under a penalty.

Form: 321-311

Lights Are Green³⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-2| J: P W Wadge⁽⁵⁾| T: G Bewley| OR: 98| D

6/1

Has taken very well to fences, winning at Hexham and Cartmel before good placed efforts last 2 starts. Up against it from 5 lb out of the weights, however.

Form: 3F-1132

Forecasts

Grey Skies (4/1), Brief Times (5/1), Saint Arvans (5/1), Honey I'm Good (5/1), Lights Are Green (6/1), Mr Mafia (7/1), Topofthecotswolds (8/1), Daranova (14/1), Irish Prophecy (16/1), Hawk's Well (20/1), Steel Wave (22/1), Empire De Maulde (33/1)

HONEY I'M GOOD looks up to completing the hat-trick given the manner of his last 2 wins at Newton Abbot. Saint Arvans rates the main threat back down in class, though Brief Time may have more to offer over this trip.
