FBC Manby Bowdler Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 16:32 | Winning time: 5m 17.10s

Shandancer^b⁴⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: J M Quinlan| T: Miss A Murphy| OR: 103| BF

17/2

Fair bumper performer in Ireland and he's reached a similar level over hurdles, producing best effort when second at Fontwell (21.7f) in May. Runner-up again at Stratford next time, but not in the same form in first-time blinkers at Southwell last month. Bounce back called for.

Form: 533-229

Nadim^p,t⁵^{(ex 7)}

Age: 4| Weight: 11-2| J: Bradley Harris⁽⁵⁾| T: M F Harris| OR: 89

2/5

Has shown improved form with cheekpieces on last 2 starts, winning at Stratford (18.7f) before following up at Market Rasen (16.6f) 5 days ago. Did well under circumstances last time having been shuffled back after 3 out, so he's respected under a penalty.

Form: 53-2211

Barnay^p¹³⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 10-3| J: Max Kendrick| T: J Coulson| OR: 78| D

66/1

Hurdles winner for Jennie Candlish but form has gone the wrong way over fences for his current yard this year, pulled up last 2 starts (reportedly bled on his latest outing). Cheekpieces back on, but has enough to prove returned to hurdling.

Form: 8/033PP-

Secret Moss²³

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Charlie Hammond| T: B R Summers| OR: 72

50/1

Has shown little in bumpers/over hurdles so far, finishing well held after 16 months off when fifth of 8 on handicap debut at Stratford 23 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere.

Form: 00P86/5

Citizen Jane¹⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: Murray Dodd⁽⁷⁾| T: A Ralph| OR: 77

17/2

Little form over hurdles for Tom Symonds and, despite winning a point in between, failed to offer much encouragement on Rules debut for this yard at Uttoxeter (23.2f) in June. Shaped better when mid-field at this course (2m) last time, but further improvement required.

Form: 8F-P175

Jolie Baie^h¹⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽³⁾| T: Miss J S Davis| OR: 73

11/2

Down the field in a Huntingdon bumper on debut and only mild encouragement so far over hurdles. In first-time hood, couldn't justify support (9/1) when finishing fourth of 9 at this course (2m) on handicap debut 17 days ago. Back up in trip.

Forecasts

Nadim (2/5), My Gift To You (7/4), Best Mate Dave (9/2), Jolie Baie (11/2), Bensini (8/1), Shandancer (17/2), Citizen Jane (17/2), Painless Potter (14/1), Secret Moss (50/1), Barnay (66/1)

In a first-time tongue tie, MY GIFT TO YOU proved a different proposition on his stable/handicap debut when getting off the mark in good style at Southwell 2 days ago, so he can score again if making the quick turnaround. Nadim arrives bidding for a hat-trick and is the main danger, with Painless Potter completing the shortlist.
