Scottish Wind¹⁰⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 9-11| J: O J Orr| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR: 67

11/2

Fair form on the Flat last year. Beaten a fair way in 2 hurdles at the end of 2022 but returns to the Flat as an unexposed type and his yard is in very good form. Needs considering.

Form: 244-

Casa Luna³⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 9-10| J: Connor Beasley| T: P A Kirby| OR: 66

25/1

Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 7 in handicap (66/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 34 days ago. Makes turf debut. Must improve.

Form: 4-3347

(5)

Turner Girl¹⁸⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: B A Curtis| T: E A L Dunlop| OR: 65| C

13/2

Course winner. Ended 2022 on a low note but is back to only 2 lb above that mark she defied here last summer. Could play a part if ready to roll.

Form: 251359-

(1)

Trailblazer^p⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-8| J: Jason Hart| T: A Nicol| OR: 64

10/1

Ran poorly at Newcastle last week but had run well there in cheekpieces on his 2 outings prior to that and the headgear is back on now. Respected returned to turf.

Form: 05-4330

(11)

Glory And Honour^v¹¹

Age: 7| Weight: 9-7| J: Jason Watson| T: D O'Meara| OR: 63| CD

9/1

C&D winner. 15/2 and visored first time, ran poorly back on the Flat at Doncaster (heavy) 11 days ago. This is a weaker race but he will need to leave that run behind.

Form: 3113-59

(8)

Lord Torranaga³⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 9-5| J: G Lee| T: P A Kirby| OR: 61| C| D

7/1

Course winner. Fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle 34 days ago. Is feasibly handicapped now returning to turf.

Form: 2759-74

(3)

Lechro⁶²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: Aidan Keeley⁽⁵⁾| T: J Candlish| OR: 60

12/1

Second in a turf handicap at Hamilton (11f) last autumn. Struggled badly in 3 AW outings at the start of this year and hopes are pinned on the return to turf sparking a revival.

Form: 772-069

(4)

Give Grace¹⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-1| J: A Mullen| T: I Jardine| OR: 57

20/1

Back to best when second of 6 in seller at Redcar (1¼m) on final start last year. Well beaten in Newcastle handicap on her reappearance 19 days ago but she may strip fitter for the run. Up in trip.

Form: 35072-8

(7)

Coconut Bay^h1¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 8-13| J: Phil Dennis| T: T Davidson| OR: 55

14/1

AW winner over 1¼m for Hughie Morrison last year. Not disgraced without posing a serious threat when fifth of 7 on her Newcastle return for a new yard 12 days ago. Hooded first time now stepping up in trip. This only her second outing on turf.

Form: 34154-5

(9)

Sugarpiehoneybunch^p⁸^{(ex 5)}

Age: 5| Weight: 8-8| J: Aiden Brookes⁽⁵⁾| T: S G West| OR: 45| D

11/4

Seemed suited by a return to soft ground when opening her account at the 18th time of asking at Thirsk (1½m) last week. Perhaps not an obvious type to defy a penalty but she is unexposed at this trip and arrives in form.

Form: 030-971

(6)

Turbulent Power⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 8-4| J: Faye McManoman| T: B Rothwell| OR: 45

9/1

Made a respectable return to the Flat when 9½ lengths sixth of 13 to the reopposing Sugarpiehoneybunch in handicap at Thirsk (1½m, soft, 16/1) 8 days ago but it underlines she needs more if she's to overcome her lowly mark.

Form: 3784-66

Forecasts

Sugarpiehoneybunch (11/4), Scottish Wind (11/2), Turner Girl (13/2), Lord Torranaga (7/1), Turbulent Power (9/1), Glory And Honour (9/1), Trailblazer (10/1), Lechro (12/1), Coconut Bay (14/1), Give Grace (20/1), Casa Luna (25/1)

With the Lucinda Russell team in very good form a chance is taken on handicap newcomer SCOTTISH WIND, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Trailblazer could be a threat if a disappointing run at Newcastle last time can be put down to the absence of headgear (back on now). Last week's Thirsk winner Sugarpiehoneybunch should also be competitive under a penalty.
