Brother to fairly useful hurdler Blacko and French 2¼m hurdle winner Jedno but made an unpromising start to his career (hooded) in a bumper at Exeter 14 months ago and not seen since.

Flemensfirth gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler College Oak. Dam (b99), bumper winner, half-sister to triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate. Unplaced all 3 starts in Irish points (latest Oct 2022) but has joined a respected yard ahead of Rules debut and needs taking seriously.

Has hinted at ability in a Ffos Las bumper/novice hurdle but probably won't be of interest until handicaps.

Shirocco gelding who has improved with each run, finishing with running left when third in 15-runner maiden at Ludlow (15.8f) 41 days ago. Seems sure to progress again, especially now upped in trip.

Third in a well-contested Newbury novice on his debut in March and filled same position in a similar event at Lingfield on his return. However, went backwards at Leicester and stopped as if all wasn't right when pulled up at Doncaster last time. Needs to get back on track after a break.

Rocco Royale (11/10), Double Click (5/2), Scene One (11/4), Modern Monarch (25/1), Chef Bogo (28/1), Muvvers Money (125/1)

Verdict

ROCCO ROYALE is going the right way and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark with further improvement anticipated over this longer trip. Double Click was unplaced in 3 Irish points but has joined a respected yard and needs taking seriously on his Rules debut, especially if the market speaks in his favour. Scene One returns from a break with something to prove but isn't completely dismissed based on his earlier promise.
