Sussex Inns Group Handicap Chase

Modest maiden hurdler who has bettered that level over fences, winning handicap chases at Hereford and Market Rasen in early-2022. Ran well when second over C&D on return and quickly back to form (after a wind operation) when going close at Lingfield. Can go one better.

Mixed record over hurdles for this yard and caused a surprise in getting off the mark under Rules returned to chasing over C&D last week, providing the stable with a first winner since October. Not an obvious type to follow up under a penalty.

Point winner. Probably would have been placed but for a luckless late exit at Hereford 3 weeks ago, though looked a hard ride in first-time cheekpieces and failed to back that up at Chepstow since.

Three-time winner over fences/hurdles in 2020/21 but well held since.

Modest maiden hurdler who has run to a similar level when making the frame in both of his chase starts so far, coming clear of the rest when third of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (23.5f) last time. Shortlisted.

Sprang a major surprise when 100/1-winner of 7-runner handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f) but predictably wasn't in the same form next time. 2 lb out of the handicap.

Stopped the slide back over fences when second of 5 in handicap chase at Wincanton (25.1f, soft) 12 days ago, though it's hardly solid form. Change of headgear. 2 lb out of handicap.
