Runner-up on only start in bumpers and very much going the right way over hurdles, opening his account in 8-runner novice at Newcastle (16.9f) 3 weeks ago, produced to lead between last 2 and ridden out. Ought to be very competitive under a penalty.

Stepped up on his reappearance when running out an impressive winner of a C&D handicap in the mud in December. Ran poorly up in grade at Cheltenham next time but could bounce back now returned to calmer waters after a break.

Kayf Tara gelding who made a promising start to his career when runner-up in a Huntingdon bumper a year ago. Held back by his jumping on his Chepstow return/hurdling debut but more like it upped in trip when second at Huntingdon (19.6f) on Boxing Day, doing best work at finish. Can go on improving.

Ocovango gelding. Changed hands for £100,000 after winning his sole outing in points in October and shaped encouragingly behind a good prospect in a 2m4f Ffos Las maiden hurdle on his Rules debut in January. Excellent chance.

Related to some useful performers in these silks but showed little in a Huntingdon novice hurdle in October 2021 and not seen since.

Verdict

MYLESFROMWICKLOW was no match for a good prospect on his hurdling debut at Ffos Las, but he still beat the rest convincingly and this looks a good opportunity for him to go one better. Blue Fin is improving with each run and is entitled to be competitive under a penalty, especially as he wasn't beaten far by the promising Howlingmadmurdock at Catterick on his penultimate start. Butch and Can You Call also merit respect.
