Showed a good attitude when winning first 2 completed starts over hurdles and just touched off on handicap bow at Taunton in January. Again found just one too strong equipped with first-tiime cheekpieces in a Newbury novice (20.5f) last week and big player back in handicap company.

Stepped up on low-key reappearance when runner-up off this mark on penultimate start at Cheltenham (3m). However, subsequent Gowran display left much to be desired and looks risky on debut for new yard.

Irish bumper winner who landed a novice event and a 21f Ludlow handicap in this sphere last season. Ultimately well held back from a break at Market Rasen (16.6f) in September but possibilities back over a more suitable trip here, provided he's ready to roll following another intermission.

Resumed winning ways returned to novice company in a mares' event over 23f here in November. Good second in a handicap back here last month and, though nudged up 2 lb for that, she has to be taken seriously.

Failed to go on over fences but put in a good shift returned to this sphere when third at Ffos Las in January. Excuses here upped to 23f last time (didn't appear to get home having raced freely) and better expected back over a more suitable trip.

Winner of handicaps at Fontwell and this course last term, and again performed well here when fourth of 13 back in this sphere on penultimate start. Just touched off upped to this trip at Wincanton since and another bold show anticipated.

Much improved in cheekpieces once switched to handicaps last term, scoring twice over 19f at Taunton. Found just one too good on first 2 starts this season and needs considering back down in trip here having seemingly failed to stay 3m last time.

Forecasts

Hititi (5/2), American Sniper (5/2), Sabrina (9/2), Iberio (5/1), Gladiateur Allen (15/2), Judicial Law (10/1), Brazos (80/1)

Verdict

Strong cases can be made for the majority of these. Preference is for AMERICAN SNIPER, who is officially 2 lb 'well-in' on the back of a solid effort in a novice event at Newbury last week where he pulled miles clear of the rest with the useful winner, Twig. Judicial Law will be a threat if fully tuned-up following a break but the consistent Hititi, who proved that this trip is within his range when going close at Wincanton, is feared most. Gladiateur Allen is also accorded respect.
