Off time: 15:02 | Winning time: 3m 25.57s

(6)

Bascinet^p⁴^{(ex 5)}

Age: 4| Weight: 9-13| J: Mia Nicholls⁽⁷⁾| T: Eve Johnson Houghton| OR: 62| D

9/4

9/2, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 4 days ago, in command 2f out. Fancied to be bang there under a 5 lb penalty provided this doesn't come too soon.

Form: 3-11231

Anisoptera¹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 9-10| J: Marco Ghiani| T: B R Johnson| OR: 61| BF| CD

9/4

C&D winner. Well-backed 9/4, third of 5 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 19 days ago, not ideally placed. Certainly on a workable mark (now 1 lb lower) so one for the shortlist.

Form: 85-2853

(3)

Cheng Gong^p²²

Age: 7| Weight: 9-9| J: D C Costello| T: N B King| OR: 60

16/1

Failed to stay when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Lingfield (23f, good) 22 days ago. Placed both starts prior in this sphere at Kempton so should give another good account.

Form: 121/532

(8)

Baroque Star³²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: George Bass⁽³⁾| T: J Channon| OR: 60

10/1

Stuck on to hit the frame after 4 months off when fourth of 7 in handicap (15/2) at Kempton (16f) 32 days ago, albeit never going well enough to challenge. Not the easiest to make a case for.

Form: 05786-4

(2)

Rock Chant^p,t²⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 9-6| J: Ben Sanderson⁽³⁾| T: Ian Williams| OR: 57

5/1

Ran better than for a while in first-time cheekpieces when second of 12 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f, 20/1) 26 days ago. Needs to back that up now.

Form: 0099-82

(1)

Global Wonder⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 9-4| J: Aiden Brookes⁽⁵⁾| T: J & S Best| OR: 55| BF| C| D

15/2

Course winner. Latest win at Chelmsford City in February. Not really seen to best effect in a muddling affair when sixth of 8 in handicap (5/2) at this C&D (AW) 7 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Merits consideration.

Form: 9441/16

(7)

Henry The Fifth^p,t⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 8-13| J: David Probert| T: A Carson| OR: 50

17/2

12/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at this C&D (AW) 7 days ago, not ideally placed. Remains with just a sole success so that's enough of a reason to look elsewhere.

Form: 334-364

(5)

Proud Warrior²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 8-6| J: J F Egan| T: A W Carroll| OR: 45

100/1

Possibly failed to stay when 13¾ lengths eighth of 11 to Global Wonder in handicap at Chelmsford City (16f, 33/1) 20 days ago, slowly away (seemed to be dipping as stalls opened). Easily opposed.

Form: 070-078

Forecasts

Anisoptera (9/4), Bascinet (9/4), Rock Chant (5/1), Global Wonder (15/2), Henry The Fifth (17/2), Baroque Star (10/1), Cheng Gong (16/1), Proud Warrior (100/1)

BASCINET proved better than ever to record a third success under this rider at Wolverhampton on Saturday so provided this doesn't come too soon, he's fancied to make light of a 5 lb penalty and get the better of Anisoptera, who wasn't seen to best effect over this C&D last month. Global Wonder and Cheng Gong can fight out minor honours.
