10/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, did well under circumstances (modestly-run affair) when winning 6-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f) 15 days ago, responding well to lead final 50 yds. Unexposed as a stayer and looks one to keep onside.

Cheekpieces on for 1st time, shaped well when third of 10 in handicap hurdle (11/2) at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) 18 days ago, running on. This is as far as he's been on the level and impossible to rule out.

Confirmed the promise of stable debut as he finally opened his account at Lingfield last month and had little trouble following up just 4 days later in 6-runner handicap at Kempton (16f, 9/4) 4 weeks ago. In top form so must remain of interest.

Boosted his good record at Pontefract (18f) in October but produced a rare below par display when well held at Newmarket (2m) later that month. Finished with running left when third at Southwell just under 10 weeks ago and could well build on that effort here.

Forecasts

Fleurman (2/1), Quercus Robur (9/4), Kihavah (5/2), First Emperor (11/4), Flint Hill (5/1)

Verdict

Cases can be made for all of these but the most persuasive is for FLEURMAN, who did well to win in what was a modestly-run affair at Wolverhampton earlier this month, and with more to come in this sphere, Olly Murphy's charge looks one to keep firmly onside. First Emperor is in top form at present so he heads up the opposition, ahead of Quercus Robur.
