Very smart gelding. 11/4, career best when winning 16-runner Maktoum Challenge Round 1 at this course (8f) 28 days ago by 6½ lengths from Discovery Island, forging clear. Obvious claims if in the same form.

Useful horse. Two wins from 5 runs last year. 11/4 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, 71 lengths last of 11 to Salute The Soldier in minor event at this course (9.9f) 21 days ago. Better was expected then.

Smart gelding. Didn't need to be at best when winning 7-runner listed race at this course (9.9f, 3/1) 42 days ago by length from Bendoog. Had a fine campaign here last year (second in Group 1) and another big run expected.

Smart colt. Course winner. Two wins from 6 runs last year. Latest win here in December. Respectable 2½ lengths third of 11 to Salute The Soldier in minor event (2/1) at this course (9.9f) 21 days ago. Could have a bigger effort in him.

Forecasts

Algiers (8/13), Remorse (5/1), Salute The Soldier (5/1), Bendoog (9/1), Desert Wisdom (20/1), Military Law (33/1), First Constitution (33/1), Secret Victory (50/1), Atletico El Culano (50/1)

Verdict

ALGIERS destroyed a good field in Round 1 of this series 4 weeks ago and he stays this longer trip so could be hard to beat if in the same sort of form. Remorse made a successful return here 6 weeks ago and another big run looks on the way. Salute The Soldier, who took this in 2021, is also in the mix after a winning comeback.

  1. Algiers8/13
  2. Remorse5/1
  3. Salute The Soldier5/1
