Low-mileage 8-y-o who scored over hurdles here last January following a 2-year absence. Chase debut effort was low-key but has left that behind with creditable efforts on his next 2 starts and bold show likely.

Won sole bumper start and 2 of his 5 starts over timber. Respectable third on return at Ascot in October and while he didn't get very far on recent chase debut at Doncaster, this 6-y-o possesses the scope to make his mark in this sphere.

Showed plenty over hurdles during 2020/21 campaign, winner of a 2m Huntingdon maiden when last seen 19 months ago. Subsequent absence naturally a concern ahead of this chase debut but yard landed this race last year and it will be interesting to see what the market has to say.

Successful twice from 4 starts over hurdles last season but well held on return/chase debut at Newbury. Early faller at the same course recently and he now has a bit to prove.

Forecasts

Call Of The Wild (11/8), Cap Du Mathan (6/4), Robin's Dream (9/2), Earth Company (10/1)

Verdict

An intriguing contest, despite the small field. CALL OF THE WILD was an early casualty on his recent introduction to this sphere at Doncaster but he looks a chasing type and, judged on his hurdles form, will have every chance of delivering here, granted a clear round. Cap du Mathan should pick up a race over fences sooner rather than later and merits respect but Robin's Dream, who was a promising novice hurdler a couple of seasons back, could be a bigger threat if fully tuned-up for this.
