Eased in weights and duly capitalised to land back-to-back handicaps at Hexham/Sedgefield in recent months. Good second from much-inflated mark at the latter venue (19.3f) last time and he has to be of interest again back down in trip.

Won 2 on the bounce over C&D last winter, including this corresponding race, and returned to form when going close in a 20.5f handicap here in November. However, followed that with a rather tame display (again at this course) and he's opposable on balance.

Did pretty well last season, opening his Rules account in a Thurles handicap chase and runner-up on 3 occasions. Conversely, he hasn't shown much in 3 runs so far this time round and it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Best effort when third on second chase start at Hexham last spring. Hinted that he could be working his way back to form when fourth in a 10-runner Newcastle handicap (16.3f) a fortnight ago and each-way chance off 3 lb lower here if able to build on that.

Back to his best when runner-up over 20.5f here last February and not disgraced on 2 of his next 3 starts. No impact on return at Wetherby but probably needed that following 8 months off and worth a second look with cheekpieces refitted.

Winning hurdler for Paul Nicholls in 2018 who came good over fences for this yard in a 2m Wetherby novice handicap last March. Not the most sure-footed of jumpers, though, and got no further than the first fence on recent reappearance at Newcastle.

Four-time winner over fences in France and posted best effort on these shores to date when runner-up over a similar trip to this at Hexham last spring. However, has failed by some way to reproduce that form since and now tried in a tongue strap.

Veteran campaigner who capitalised on much-reduced mark to regain winning thread at Hexham last season, narrowly getting the better of re-opposing stablemate Bandit d'Ainay. Both subsequent efforts have been poor, though.

Presumably fragile given his sporadic appearances and has shown little spark in 3 starts under Rules (all over hurdles). Possible that this former point winner will be seen in a better light now switched to fences but looks risky.

Signs of ability on debut in a Musselburgh bumper last February but offered precious little in 3 subsequent starts over hurdles. Sizeable step forward needed now sent chasing.

A chance is taken on SILKEN MOONLIGHT, who was always likely to struggle back over hurdles following a lengthy absence at Southwell in November and, with that run under her belt, better can be expected now that she returns to this sphere and a stiffer track.The in-form Rocco Storm is an obvious threat having lost little caste in defeat when second in his hat-trick bid at Sedgefield last time, while Broomfields Kan could have a part to play if he puts his best foot forward.
