Landed a pair of novice hurdles for this yard last season. Could only manage fourth on his Catterick chase debut but almost certainly would have won at Musselburgh since but for unseating at the last. Tends to only do the bare mimimum and could benefit from first-time cheekpieces.

Irish raider who was capable of fair form over hurdles but only made it to fifth fence (unseated rider) on Down Royal chase debut 14 days ago. Goes handicapping now.

Won maiden and handicap hurdles at Hexham in the autumn. A point success at the start of his career provides hope that he'll take to fences. Respected.

Promising novice hurdler last season but disappointed in 2 chases in November and fared little better back hurdling at Wetherby over Christmas. Has something to prove for now.

Dual point winner who opened his account under Rules at the eleventh attempt in a 17f handicap hurdle at Carlisle in February. Back to that sort of level when third of 12 in 21f Kelso handicap hurdle last time. Yet to convince over fences, though.

Forecasts

Champ De Gane (5/2), Masked Crusader (11/4), Paddy The Horse (11/4), Netywell (6/1), Duty Calls (7/1)

Verdict

The addition of cheekpieces could help MASKED CRUSADER who is taken to gain compensation for his late departure when looking in control at Musselburgh last month. Paddy The Horse arrives on the back of 2 hurdle wins and is the obvious danger if taking to fences (point winner).
