Useful gelding. C&D winner. First run since leaving E. Charpy when creditable 7½ lengths sixth of 16 to San Donato in listed race at Abu Dhabi (1m) 33 days ago. Needs to pull out more at this level.

Smart gelding. Bit below form 4½ lengths seventh of 13 to Rohaan in Group 3 Bengough Stakes at Ascot (6f, good to soft) in October. Not at his very best in 4 starts last year but this step back up in trip rates a likely plus.

Smart horse. Three wins from 6 runs last year. Bit below form 5½ lengths sixth of 10 to Fast Raaj in listed race (59/10) at Deauville (7.4f) 27 days ago. Not taken lightly.

Smart gelding. 10/1, first run since leaving John McConnell when respectable second of 5 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, AW) 48 days ago. Interesting runner for this yard with Tom Marquand booked.

Smart gelding. 15 lengths last of 9 to Alflaila in Darley Stakes at Newmarket (9f, good, 10/1) 90 days ago. Back down in trip. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.

Three wins from 7 runs last year. Career best when winning 10-runner listed race (53/10) at Deauville (7.4f) 27 days ago by ¾ length from Amilcar, finishing strongly. Not discounted.

Useful gelding who was well held on final start for Charlie Appleby in this race 12 months ago, pushed along entering straight and quickly eased off. Probably best watched here.

Smart gelding. Latest win at Chelmsford (6f) in July. Creditable 2 lengths third of 8 to Pogo in Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Newmarket (7f) in October. Likeable type and no surprise to see him give a good account on return from 3 months off.

Back to winning ways in Newmarket listed race (7f) in April and, having been gelded, he ran out a game winner of the Jersey Stakes (7f) at Royal Ascot when last seen in June. Still relatively low-mileage and he may yet rate higher still.

Smart horse. Two wins from 5 runs last year. Didn't need to improve to win 12-runner minor event at Madrid (7f, soft) 54 days ago. This understandably tougher.

Smart gelding. Career best when winning 20-runner handicap (80/1) at Ascot (8f, good to soft) 83 days ago, travelling smoothly and staying on to lead final 50 yds. More on his plate in this field, though.

Below form 10¼ lengths ninth of 16 to Man of Promise in Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint at this course (6f, good, 50/1) back in March. Did finish runner-up in this race 12 months ago but this rates a stronger affair this time around.

Useful mare. Seven wins from 25 Flat runs. Respectable 2¾ lengths third of 12 to Queen Aminatu in listed race (4/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 71 days ago. Others more persuasive.

Verdict

NOBLE TRUTH appeared a much calmer model for being gelded when running out a game winner of the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot when last seen in June and he gets the nod to come out on top with the possibility of a little more to come from Charlie Appleby's 4-y-o this year. Alfareeq, Al Suhail and Bouttemont head up the dangers.
