Off time: 15:31 | Winning time: 6m 35.97s

Jack Doyen³⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Stan Sheppard| T: B I Case| OR: 105

33/1

Placed in points and showed more than first time up over hurdles when fourth in 7-runner Market Rasen maiden last month. However, failed to build on that next time and sizeable step forward needed now switched to fences.

Form: 322-945

Bring The Action³⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Tom Buckley⁽³⁾| T: N J Hawke| OR: 105| D

4/1

Point winner who got off the mark at the third attempt over fences at Wetherby in January, jumping well and showing a willing attitude. Back to form following a wind op when runner-up on return at Doncaster (3¼m, good) and he's one to consider.

Form: F3154-2

Bobmahley³⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-11| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR: 102| D

4/1

Got the job done at the eighth time of asking over fences at Fakenham (24.2f, good) in October. Lost little caste in defeat when a clear second to a progressive type at Lingfield next time and he has to enter calculations.

Form: 22P2-12

Unai³⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 11-10| J: Lee Edwards| T: J Groucott| OR: 101| D

25/1

Winner of a Warwick handicap chase off this mark in April 2021 but he was well held in a couple of hunters last term and his reappearance display at Hereford was hardly encouraging.

Form: 5563-57

Art Decco²⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: D A Jacob| T: R Walford| OR: 100

9/4

Left previous efforts well behind when runner-up in a 21f handicap chase here (soft) earlier this month. Stepping back up in trip could be the catalyst for further improvement from this 6-y-o and he's a must for the shortlist.

Form: 494-72

The Lion Dancer^b²⁶⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 11-6| J: Harriet Tucker⁽⁷⁾| T: A M Hales| OR: 97| D

22/1

Four-time winner over fences for Charlie Mann and placed on a couple of occasions for this yard last season. However, latest effort at Hexham in April was poor and his overall profile is far from convincing.

Form: P/5523P-

Uranus Des Bordes^p1⁴⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Jordan Nailor⁽³⁾| T: D G Bridgwater| OR: 95

16/1

Encouragement first time out when runner-up in novice hurdle at Huntingdon but well held next 2 starts in that sphere. No improvement switched to fences this season and now tried in cheekpieces.

Form: 234-P4

Patient Owner⁴¹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: David Noonan| T: Henry Oliver| OR: 92

4/1

Modest form over hurdles last season and failed by a long chalk to reward his supporters (well backed) on return here in November. Opposable on chase debut.

Form: F6366-5

Queen Of The Court²⁶⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-1| J: M G Nolan| T: J G Cann| OR: 92| D

50/1

Successful at Taunton in February but failed to land a meaningful blow on her next 2 starts and she's entitled to need the run following 8 months off.

Form: 413155-

Loch Garman Aris^p²⁸⁷

Age: 12| Weight: 10-11| J: Tabitha Worsley⁽³⁾| T: G Hanmer| OR: 88| D

40/1

Came good with pair of 3m chase wins in the mud at Bangor in May 2021. Failed to complete on 3 of his 4 starts last season, though, and resumes here with a fair bit to prove.

Form: 11PU2P-

Ali Star Bert^p1³⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Lewis Dobb⁽⁷⁾| T: S A Harris| OR: 85| C

11/1

Opened his account in 23f handicap hurdle on this very card last year and makes chase debut this time round off a 1 lb lower mark. Still, he didn't show much on return at Market Rasen and connections now reach for cheekpieces.

Form: 06164-P

Leskinfere^p²⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 10-2| J: Angus Cheleda⁽⁵⁾| T: J R Cornwall| OR: 79| D

66/1

Finally got his head in front when successful in handicap chase at Huntingdon in March and followed up back there 8 days later. Reappearance effort at Leicester this month was poor, though, and he's hard to enthuse over on the back of that.

Form: 43114-P

Non-Runners

The Composeur³¹

Weight: 11-11| Age: 7

T: J & A O'Neill J: K Brogan

Famous Last Word²⁹

Weight: 11-8| Age: 7

T: Ian Williams J: C J Todd

The Questioner⁴³

Weight: 11-6| Age: 6

T: O Greenall & J Guerriero J: Craig Nichol

Forecasts

Art Decco (9/4), Patient Owner (4/1), Bobmahley (4/1), Bring The Action (4/1), The Questioner (4/1), The Composeur (10/1), Ali Star Bert (11/1), Uranus Des Bordes (16/1), Famous Last Word (20/1), The Lion Dancer (22/1), Unai (25/1), Jack Doyen (33/1), Loch Garman Aris (40/1), Queen Of The Court (50/1), Leskinfere (66/1)

ART DECCO improved markedly on just his second chase start when runner-up over 21f here and, with further progress likely now moving back up in trip, he is taken to strike under Daryl Jacob. The Questioner has done little wrong since switched to handicaps/fitted with cheekpieces over hurdles and will be a big threat if taking to fences at the first attempt. Cases can also be readily made for Bring The Action and Bobmahley.
