Signs of ability in maiden/novice company but ran no sort of race sent handicapping after 4 months off at Newton Abbot in May. Absent again since and clearly needs more from this sort of mark down in trip.

Seen the track just 3 times again following an encouraging start for this yard in C&D handicap in February 2021. Not knocked about back from 13 months off at Chepstow 4 weeks ago and could be set for a better showing fitted with a tongue tie.

Fairly useful on the Flat and while he's not proven as good over hurdles he did shape a bit better than the distance beaten in first-time cheekpieces at Hereford a fortnight ago. Down another 4 lb and has conditional up too.

Big improver in handicaps this term, completing a hat-trick at up to 19f under this rider. Unsuited by drop in trip but still ran respectably at Sedgefield (17f) last time. Down another furlong here.

Modest maiden hurdler who has made little impact in handicaps and was held in a seller last time. His mark has eased further at least.

Forged clear when landing 2m Uttoxeter handicap hurdle in July but added to his patchy record with a tame display under a penalty at Bangor a week later. Off 4 months since.

Maiden handicap hurdler. Well backed but had nothing go right during the short time she was involved in the race here 11 days ago (hampered start/rider lost iron, then clipped heels/stumbled and unseated before first). Interesting to see if the money comes for her again.

Won at Uttoxeter (2m) in July but he's unreliable and has been looking a hard ride again.

Last on all 3 starts in maiden/novice hurdles last season but achieved more starting off in handicaps from a suitably low mark after 8 months off at Hexham (2m, soft) recently, despite still looking quite green. Must be of interest after that.

Forecasts

Captain Jack (5/2), Encashment (7/2), Right Said Ted (4/1), Patient Dream (9/2), Misty Mani (5/1), Alghazaal (7/1), Pumpkin's Pride (12/1), Higher Ground (16/1), African Sun (25/1), George Mallory (28/1), Razzo Italiano (33/1), Force De Frap (33/1)

Verdict

Tricky stuff and it could be worth chancing PATIENT DREAM starting out for Donald McCain. He lurks on a tempting mark judged on his useful Flat form and his new yard could find the key to him. Right Said Ted showed plenty more on his recent handicap debut at Hexham and has to be respected. Captain Jack is interesting after a nudge from the handicapper on the back of his first run in 13 months at Chepstow.
