Runner-up on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles (bled other occasion). Brother to smart two-miler Captain Guinness but appeals as one who'll prove more suited to this longer trip and he's a respected chase debutant.

Winning hurdler has taken reasonably well to chasing, weakening only late on softer ground at Carlisle last time. Certainly worth another try at this trip and remains leniently treated on the pick of his form.
|
Acquired for £70,000 after finishing third in a point. Ran only twice over hurdles, probably in need of run on return at Plumpton last month. No surprise if he were to prove a better chaser, though yard form (only one win across the last 12 months) is a worry.
|
Won at Fakenham last term but ended the season in a lull and fared no better when pulled up in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Newbury (20.5f, soft) on return (possibly amiss). Improvement required on chase debut.

Forecasts
Captain Broomfield (1/1), Kilfilum Woods (9/4), Maninsane (10/3), Ferrobin (20/1), The Knot Is Tied (25/1)
MANINSANE has already had 3 starts over fences but has at least already matched his hurdles form and may have his simplest task yet in this sphere here. Lightly-raced chase newcomer Captaim Broomfield is the most pertient danger, with Kilfilum Woods best of the rest.
