Hit the frame a couple of times for Philip Fenton last winter. Tailed off on stable debut in a novice at Worcester but might fare better now reverted to handicap company.

Off the mark despite lacking fluency in a 9-runner handicap hurdle (8/1) at Bangor (23f, soft) 24 days ago. Type to improve further over this distance and opening mark seems fair.

Remains a maiden following 10 attempts over hurdles but last couple of efforts have been encouraging, left too much to do when third at Chepstow 23 days ago. Stamina is an unknown.

Has shown fair form over hurdles so far but this is quite competitive and his latest eighth at Worcester was an underwhelming performance.

Lightly-raced hurdler who improved when fourth in a handicap at Ludlow on his final outing for Olly Murphy. Has been off 2 years since, but worth monitoring in the betting up in trip for in-form new trainer.

Shaped well when fourth in Uttoxeter handicap hurdle (2½m, good) back from a lengthy absence in September but the form of that hasn't worked out and she could only fill the same position in weaker race at Chepstow last time. Up in trip now.

Ended his time with T. J. Nagle Jnr in good order but hasn't yet fired for his current connections, down the field back over fences at Hexham 167 days ago. Others make more appeal.

Different proposition since handicapping with cheekpieces enlisted. Shaped well the last twice, pulling clear with another improver at Ayr on latest outing, and deserves respect for all this is a stronger race.

Forecasts

The Questioner (15/8), Betterforeveryone (3/1), Sporting Ace (4/1), Halifax (5/1), Buttsbury Lady (8/1), General Probus (17/2), One For The Wall (17/2), Four Horsemen (18/1), Golden Cosmos (33/1)

Verdict

SPORTING ACE was impressive on hurdling debut and lost little in defeat to a highly-promising rival in a novice at Exeter last time. An opening mark of 116 might underestimate him and he's fancied to get the better of Betterforeveryone, who opened his account at Bangor despite jumping none too fluently and should improve again. The Questioner boasts a steadily progressive profile, so he's also worthy of interest.
