Progressive handicap hurdler at up to 3m last season, again going well in the mud when scoring at Haydock when last seen in February. No reason why he won't be just as good over fences although returns with his yard still not in top gear.

Fairly useful hurdles winner last term, making a successful handicap debut at Chepstow (19.5f). Upped markedly in trip for chase debut and returns with yard in good form.

7/1
Fair maiden jumper with chasing experience from 4-y-o days in France. Missed 29 months and essentially a touch disappointing over hurdles last term (beaten at odds on again final start, reportedly suffered breathing problem). Has had a wind op. Not sure to stay this far back over fences on return.

Showed a good attitude and bags of stamina as he won his first 2 starts over hurdles. Tame display in a competitive 3m handicap at Newbury when last seen in March but it's still early days for this 6-y-o and he's one to consider now chasing for new yard (£75,000 buy from Oliver Sherwood).

2/1
Point/debut bumper winner who showed fairly useful form over hurdles last season, though beaten 3 times at odds on. Has had a breathing op and also goes chasing fitted with tongue tie on return. Should stay and could do better in this sphere.

12/1
Point/bumper winner who looked all stamina as he made a winning hurdles debut in 21f Doncaster novice a year ago. Hasn't fired since, including on handicap debut on return last month. Goes chasing after a breathing op with new headgear fitted. Type to do better over fences for in-form yard.

4/1
Winning hurdler who stalled in the second half of last season and ran below the level of his form over timber sent chasing after 7 months off at Worcester. Bit to prove, although this step up in trip will help.

Fair form when 3 lengths second of 6 in introductory hurdle at Ludlow a year ago, but disappointing otherwise under Rules (including over fences), well beaten on return for new yard 31 days ago. Plenty to prove back chasing.

Steadily progressive hurdler for Caroline Bailey in 2020/21, successful in extended 3m Southwell handicap when last seen 19 months ago. More needed now chasing on return for new yard.

Forecasts

Kyntara (2/1), Jet Plane (4/1), The Street (4/1), Amenon (7/1), Guerlain De Vaux (17/2), Lyrical Genius (12/1), Just A Deal (14/1), Foillan (28/1), Another Brown Bear (66/1)

Verdict

LYRICAL GENIUS failed to build on a good start over hurdles but staying chases were always going to be what this point winner needed, and he could be interesting at a price having had a breathing operation following his Hexham return. The Street and Guerlain de Vaux are a couple of others who could shine over fences.
