Having dropped in the weights, justified support when making all at Sedgefield (17f, good to soft) in March. Could finish only second of 4 at this C&D 8 days later, but he may just be better for the run as he makes his return from 7 months off.

Left hurdles debut behind when landing a Limerick maiden around Christmas last year. Left John Joseph Hanlon after his next start and failed to justify support on stable bow when only mid-field at Southwell in March. Bred to be a chaser.

Disappointing on final 2 starts last year and, after 14 months off, probably needed the run when well held in handicap hurdle here 14 days ago. Winning Irish pointer so could fare better now chasing.

Fair hurdles winner in 2020/21 but struggled in 3 outings over fences last season. However, back over timber and in first-time cheekpieces, successful in handicap at Uttoxeter (2m, soft) in March. Back chasing on return.

Notched third chase success at this C&D (good) in March and followed up in novice selling hurdle at Exeter 13 days later. Respected as he bids for a hat-trick reappearing back over fences.

Without a win but several creditable efforts last season in both spheres. After 6 months off, ran well when a narrow runner-up at this C&D (good to firm) last month. Can deservedly go one better.

Maiden hurdler who was all the better for chase bow/return when second at Exeter (19.2f, soft) in January. Similar form when third next time but poor effort when last seen in March. Has since left Jack Barber/had breathing op. Can bounce back.

C&D winner in April but has failed to go on from that effort this season. Possibly failed to stay the longer distance when down the field at Worcester (23f, good) in August, but others still preferred despite the drop back in trip.

Modest in bumpers and fared little better over hurdles, again finishing well held when last seen at Taunton back in December 2020. Best watched on chase debut.

Little impact over hurdles though sprang a surprise from just out of the handicap on his chasing bow at Taunton (2m, soft) in March. Never a threat upped in distance when third at Newton Abbot (21f, good) next time. Back down in trip on return.

Ended a long losing run from 6 lb out of handicap at Bangor (17.4f, heavy) in January. However, hasn't been able to reproduce that effort since. Cheekpieces back on after 7 months off.

Brulure Noire (3/1), Doyannie (3/1), Folly Gate (9/2), Prime Pretender (8/1), Starvoski (17/2), Dunbar (9/1), Master Mikey Dee (16/1), You Say Nothing (25/1), Ring The Moon (25/1), Dark Storm (33/1), Royal Act (50/1)

Verdict

After 6 months off, FOLLY GATE ran well back over fences when only just failing at this C&D last month, left with a little too much to do after a couple of jumping errors. The 7-y-o can build on that to get off the mark this time around, with Doyannie feared most on her seasonal/stable debut, ahead of Ring The Moon.
