Well-ridden by this jockey to cause a 22/1 upset at Hereford in February but proved it was no fluke when running at least as well in defeat at Market Rasen on next start. Down in trip for chase debut.

Runner-up in a point before winning 13-runner novice hurdle here on Rules debut and improved under a penalty when third at Newcastle next time. Type to make a better chaser and is very low-mileage.

Won novice/3-runner handicap hurdle on final 2 outings last season and ranks as an interesting chasing debutant only 1 lb higher in weights than for last success.

Won novice at Sedgefield on Boxing Day and followed that up with a pair of good runner-up efforts, though raced too freely when well beaten at odds-on final start last term. Makes handicap chase debut.

Expensive to follow over hurdles but appeals as one still on a feasible mark, bumping into an improver when second at Carlisle on final start last term. Respected on chase debut.

Modest winner at 17f over hurdles. 14/1, shaped as if better for run when sixth of 10 in handicap chase at Kelso (17.1f, good to soft) on debut over fences 13 days ago. Progress anticipated, though will need to brush up on his jumping.

Forecasts

Captain Quint (15/8), Ritson (4/1), North Parade (9/2), Paddy The Horse (9/2), Feivel (5/1), Malpas (13/2), Glentruan (10/1), Twoshotsoftequila (11/1)

Verdict

A tricky contest, with twice-raced hurdler CAPTAIN QUINT perhaps most interesting. Rose Dobbin's 6-y-o was runner-up in an Irish point and very much appeals as one to significantly improve over fences. It's hard to rule any of his rivals out, with Ritson, Malpas and Paddy The Horse of particular interest.
