Showed fair form in a trio of starts in bumpers, fifth of 10 at Newbury when last seen 8 months ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Improvement needed on hurdles debut.

Beat a next-time-out winner when landing an Exeter bumper on debut in December, forging clear final furlong. Unable to improve on that effort when third at Newton Abbot the following month, but type to do better over hurdles.

€17,000 3-y-o, Nicaron gelding. Half-brother to 1½m winner Damzelle Gigi. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/chaser (stayed 2½m) Cash Back. Runner-up second of 2 starts in Irish points. Wears tongue strap for Rules debut.

After 9 months off, showed much more than on hurdling debut when second in novice at this course (15.8f, good to soft) 2 weeks ago, finding only a useful bumper performer too strong. Can open his account.

Bred to stay well and shaped accordingly when staying on for third in a Warwick bumper on debut. Didn't manage to build on that promise when eighth at Kempton in February, but extra distance should suit now hurdling.

Placed both bumper starts in the spring but, after 6 months off, possibly needed the run more than the market indicated when last of 6 at this C&D (3/1) on hurdles bow 26 days ago. Needs to leave that well behind.

Point winner who found only a useful prospect too good in a Hereford bumper on Rules debut and improved on that effort when off the mark at Exeter in April, albeit having run of the race. Could go well starting off over hurdles.

Runner-up completed start in points and just touched off in a Worcester bumper in May on sole outing for Brian Barr. However, after 5 months off finished only fifth of 9 at Newton Abbot 13 days ago. Tongue strap on for hurdles bow.

£16,000 3-y-o, Pether's Moon gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/chaser Django Django. Dam (b85) lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles. Watch for market clues.

Lightly-raced winner in points but offered little when pulled up in novice at Bangor (16.7f, good) on hurdling debut a month ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere.

Successful sole outing in Irish points and justified favouritism (11/8) when making all on Rules debut in a Newton Abbot bumper in June, though helped by her main rival hanging badly left. Respected on her hurdles bow.

Forecasts

Clifton Bridge (5/4), Park This One (11/2), Inflagrante (6/1), Awaythelad (15/2), Hourvari (8/1), Tango Arumba (17/2), King's Threshold (14/1), Izayte (14/1), Santos Blue (20/1), Horizon D'or (28/1), Knockanore (33/1), Lord Pethers (50/1), Rocktreerunner (150/1)

Verdict

After 9 months off, INFLAGRANTE showed much more than on hurdling debut when runner-up here a fortnight ago, bumping into one who had shown useful form in bumpers. He can put his race fitness/experience to good use and go one better this time around, with Clifton Bridge and Tango Arumba feared most as they start off over hurdles.
