Stepney Causeway^t²³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-9| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 133| D

14/1

Second-season novice who reached a useful level without winning last term, following home Edwardstone on chase debut and falling with race at his mercy at Southwell in April. Respectable third at Uttoxeter on return but jumping/weak finishing both remain concerns.

Form: 53PF-43

Cap Du Mathan^t²⁴⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 11-7| J: Harry Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 131| D

7/2

Low-mileage ex-French 7-y-o who improved further to make a winning handicap hurdle debut after 2 years off at Taunton (19f) in January. Easy to excuse next run and not taken lightly switched to chasing on return.

Form: 6331/15-

Young Butler²⁴²

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR: 122| CD

13/8

Did well over hurdles last season winning twice and signing off with a close second in Exeter handicap. Half-brother to very smart chaser Put The Kettle On so looks an interesting chasing debutant.

Form: 4/31P12-

Margaret's Legacy³³⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-11| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR: 121

12/1

Fairly useful form over hurdles/fences in France and opening mark looks a fair one ahead of yard debut.

Form: F/52233-

Nothin To Ask^t²²⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: P J Brennan| T: F O'Brien| OR: 118| CD

10/3

Placed all 3 bumper starts and got off the mark with a bit up his sleeve on third outing over timber at Chepstow in December. Similar form when third both starts since. Makes chase debut (made frame in Irish points).

Forecasts

Young Butler (13/8), Nothin To Ask (10/3), Cap Du Mathan (7/2), Fern Hill (11/2), Margaret's Legacy (12/1), Stepney Causeway (14/1), Stimulating Song (16/1)

YOUNG BUTLER did well over hurdles last season and is a half-brother to very smart chaser Put The Kettle On, so he could be the answer now going chasing. Margaret's Legacy is of interest given what he showed in France, while Cap du Mathan is another newcomer over fences to note.
