Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner/chaser Hazzaar. Showed plenty of ability when runner-up in a Worcester bumper on debut a year ago. Subsequently left Tom Lacey for £100,000. Open to improvement. Tongue tied.

Well held in sole bumper and went backwards from hurdling debut when down the field at Worcester (20f, good) in July. Handicaps presumably up after this.

€43,000 3-y-o, £18,000 6-y-o, Martaline gelding. Brother to smart hurdler/chaser Vanillier, and half-brother to fairly useful chaser Vif Ardent. Dam, lightly raced over hurdles, 12.2f winner on Flat. Maiden Irish pointer, runner-up last time (May 7). Appears stable first string on jockey bookings.

Dunaden gelding. Half-brother to smart bumper winner/very smart hurdler Thyme Hill. Shaped like a stayer when third in a 2m Warwick bumper on debut in May, so is bound to be suited by this longer trip on hurdle debut.

Poor in bumpers but showed more sent hurdling when third in a 19.3 maiden at Ascot in March, seeming to benefit from the step up in trip.

Forecasts

Viking's Way (1/1), Clapton Hill (7/2), Givega (7/2), Vengeance (6/1), Montgomery (7/1), Rock House (8/1), Wind Of Fortune (14/1), Hartnoll Hero (22/1), Of All The Greys (28/1), Claude Almighty (33/1)

Verdict

GIVEGA catches the eye on paper and, having won his sole outing in points, he makes plenty of appeal. Clapton Hill was doing his best work at the finish on his Warwick bumper debut, so is sure to be suited by this step up in trip, with Viking's Way and Montgomery others to note.
