Cazoo Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 16:31 | Winning time: 5m 14.88s

Rock The House²⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: Charlie Price⁽³⁾| T: Katy Price| OR: 100

9/1

Successful twice off higher marks than this in 2021, but nowhere near the same level this year and needs to bounce back in a big way on first outing since leaving Olly Murphy.

Form: 9-46PU7

Ranco^t⁴²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-10| J: David Noonan| T: N J Hawke| OR: 96

11/1

Out of sorts for David Pipe to end 2021 but having been sold cheaply, he capitalised on a falling mark for new yard at Newton Abbot in July. Solid third there since and makes plenty of appeal in this thin event.

Form: 909-143

Pottlerath^p,t¹⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Stan Sheppard| T: M Sheppard| OR: 95

8/1

Ended last season with handicap hurdle wins at Warwick (26f) and Worcester (23f). Hasn't fired in two starts since returning from a summer break but cheekpieces go back on now. Could revive.

Form: 2311-45

Coillte Eile²³

Age: 9| Weight: 11-4| J: Lee Edwards| T: A West| OR: 90

25/1

Generally regressive and was down the field at Plumpton on stable/seasonal debut recently. Might strip fitter for that, but still has a bit to prove.

Form: 5/6863-9

Rakish Paddy⁷⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 11-0| J: Shane Quinlan⁽⁵⁾| T: Mrs N S Evans| OR: 88

150/1

Poor maiden on the Flat and hasn't shown enough over hurdles as yet to warrant interest in this.

Form: 359-

Keep It Brief^p,t²⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: R T Phillips| OR: 84

11/1

Fair winner on the Flat who is yet to make a serious impact over hurdles. It's still early days, though, and he did attract some support last time.

Form: 6/860-5

Red Maple^b¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-11| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 83| BF

17/2

Bettered previous chase exploits when landing 23f handicap at Market Rasen in August. Failed to back that up at same course next time but not a forlorn hope returning to the smaller obstacles.

Form: 136515

Miss Bamby²⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 10-10| J: James Bowen| T: J Mackie| OR: 82| C

18/5

Modest hurdler who placed a couple of times in the summer but was too free back from a short break at Uttoxeter a month ago. Likely to be back on track.

Form: 610-239

O'Grady's Boy^p⁴⁹

Age: 11| Weight: 10-9| J: R T Dunne| T: G Hanmer| OR: 81

40/1

Modest form at best over hurdles/fences and looked laboured in a handicap hurdle at Bangor on reappearance.

Form: P6UU4-7

Time Bandit^t¹⁵³

Age: 5| Weight: 10-8| J: Ben Jones| T: Ben Clarke| OR: 80WS

16/1

Limited hurdler who weakened tamely when ninth in a handicap at Newton Abbot when last seen 5 months ago. Others preferred.

Form: 600P8-9

Getaway Cory^p⁵⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 10-6| J: Ben Godfrey⁽³⁾| T: K Woollacott| OR: 78

2/1

Yet to win but placed on two of his last three starts, third at Fontwell on latest. On a workable mark and can't be dismissed.

Form: 4-87233

Stripe Of Honour^t,v¹⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 10-4| J: Mr James Jeavons⁽⁷⁾| T: A Day| OR: 76

50/1

Caused a major surprise (80/1) from 9 lb out of the weights when scoring at Worcester (23f) in July and has held his form since, albeit without looking likely to double his tally any time soon.

Form: 2P5145

Tre A Peni^b,t²⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-2| J: Toby Wynne⁽⁷⁾| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR: 69

16/1

Poor maiden hurdler who posted one of her better efforts when fourth in a handicap at Worcester a month ago. Needs to improve if she's to compete in this, though.

Form: 357504

Forecasts

Getaway Cory (2/1), Miss Bamby (18/5), Pottlerath (8/1), Red Maple (17/2), Rock The House (9/1), Ranco (11/1), Keep It Brief (11/1), Tre A Peni (16/1), Time Bandit (16/1), Coillte Eile (25/1), O'Grady's Boy (40/1), Stripe Of Honour (50/1), Rakish Paddy (150/1)

RANCO has started well for his new stable and this is a thin handicap, so he's a solid choice. Getaway Cory is the only other who arrives in good form, so he's a clear danger, while a revival from Pottlerath would put him in the mix.
