Promising type. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Successful at Roscommon in July. ½-length second of 9 to Flaming Moon in listed hurdle at Galway (16.5f, good, 13/2) 57 days ago. 4 lb better off with that rival now and may well turn the tables here with further improvement likely.

Fairly useful hurdler. 9/2, improved to win 12-runner novice hurdle at Wexford (16.7f, good) 47 days ago, all out. This is more demanding.
|
Fair hurdler. 14/1, career best when winning 19-runner novice hurdle at Cork (18.8f, good to soft) 51 days ago, keeping on gamely. Sizeable step forward will be needed if he's to follow up here.

Fairly useful hurdler. Career best when winning 9-runner listed hurdle at Galway (16.5f, good, 11/1) 57 days ago by ½ length from Amir Kabir, holding on gamely. Looks sure to give another good account.
|
Lightly-raced winner under Rules. 6/4, career best when winning 15-runner novice hurdle at Killarney (16.4f, good) on hurdles bow 32 days ago, just holding on. May well do better and he has to be respected given his powerful connections.
|
Modest maiden on the Flat. Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in novice hurdle (25/1) at Ballinrobe (18f, good) on NH debut 30 days ago. Looks up against it.
|
Imperial Monarch filly. Half-sister to unreliable but smart hurdler/chaser Paloma Blue, stays 2½m. Dam 2m-2½m hurdle/chase winner (stayed 3m). This is a tough race in which to be making her debut.

Forecasts
Amir Kabir (6/4), Uncle Phil (9/4), Flaming Moon (11/4), Ted Hastings (6/1), Imperial Ruler (12/1), Bold Approach (14/1), Dorans Boy (22/1), Stake Out (28/1), Forge Road (125/1)
AMIR KABIR did the job well on debut at Roscommon and subsequently enhanced his reputation when beaten just ½-length by Flaming Moon in a listed event at Galway. He would've finished closer still but for a mistake at the final flight and is taken to reverse those placings Matthew Smith's charge, who he meets on 4 lb better terms. Flaming Moon should give another good account, but the selection may have most to fear form his progressive stablemate Ted Hastings. Uncle Phil also merits respect.
