Funny Story²⁷

Age: 2| Weight: 9-9| J: H Crouch| T: R M Beckett| D

3/1

Twice-raced winner. 10 lengths last of 10 to Cuban Mistress in listed race (5/1) at Newbury (5.2f, good to firm) 27 days ago. Sights significantly lowered here and she's a major player, despite carrying a penalty.

Form: 10

7/2

Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 10 in minor event (11/2) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 40 days ago. Clearly not one of her powerful yard's leading lights and looks vulnerable once more.

Form: 34

4/5

Once-raced maiden. 2/1, fourth of 12 in minor event at Newbury (6f, good to firm) on debut 27 days ago, hampered. Open to progress and this well-bred filly needs a close look.

Forecasts

Centrefold (4/5), Funny Story (3/1), Art Of Magic (7/2), Turquoise Diamond (11/2), Full Prime (20/1), Holloway Girl (22/1), Quick Fling (40/1), Champagne Sarah (100/1)

Newcomer TURQUOISE DIAMOND ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in her favour. Funny Story was ultimately disappointing in a listed race last time, but she is greatly respected on the strength of her Newmarket debut success. However, a bigger threat may be posed by Centrefold, who is evidently well-regarded (Group 2 entry) and should come on for her encouraging debut at Newbury.
