Promising second on debut at Lingfield in December. Beaten 15 lengths when again runner-up at Hereford (16.2f, good) back from a break in April, but the winner looks decent (followed up in good style at Haydock next time) and it's doubtful that he faces anything of that calibre here.

Built on debut promise when fourth in a six-runner C&D bumper in July, impressing with the way he travelled through the race. Not so good at Fontwell next time (hung badly in the straight), but the addition of cheekpieces may help and he should have a big say in the finish.

Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Dam showed nothing over hurdles. Yard doesn't strike very often with newcomers in this sphere, but he's worth a second look in the betting.

Beaten a long way on debut at Stratford (16.3f, soft) in March and he's hard to warm to on the back of that.

€4,500 3-y-o, Sans Frontieres gelding. Half-brother to fair 23f hurdle winner Festive Glory and fair hurdler Babeny Bridge. Yard 0-6 in bumpers in recent seasons and this gelding is probably best watched.

£36,000 3-y-o, Shirocco gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler Thebarrowman, stayed 2¾m, and fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Warrantor, stayed 33f. Positive jockey booking and needs a market check.

Forecasts

Bobby Socks (8/15), Wot You Wearing (7/2), Whats Cooking (17/2), Bryn Black Sam (10/1), Kalibrate (25/1), Stancheski (40/1)

Verdict

Unless one of the newcomers turns out to be half-decent, BOBBY SOCKS and Wot You Wearing are likely to emerge as the main protagonists. It could be that the latter will benefit from the fitting of cheekpieces and, if so, he'll have every chance if at least reproducing the form of his C&D fourth in July. However, Bobby Socks chased home a potentially useful type at Hereford and he is marginally preferred. What's Cooking could be the pick of the three debutants.
