Veteran who has been a tremendous servant to connections and he posted a solid third in listed race at York last month. Easy to put a line through his latest Chester run but some effort were he to defy top weight in a race like this as a 9-y-o.
Lightly raced 4-y-o who returned with stylish win at Chelmsford in April. Has had excuses when down the field in competitive handicaps at Royal Ascot and Newmarket's July meeting since. Hooded first time. Good claimer takes 5 lb off.
Arrives on a hat-trick after wins in valuable events at Chester (2m) and Newmarket (1¾m; beat Red Flyer a short head). Another bold show likely for a stable which has an excellent record in this.
Well backed to land small-field handicap here (2m) last September. Only one creditable effort to show for his 4 outings this season but he's back on a favourable mark as a result and could perk up in a first-time visor.
Good front-running second to Valley Forge at Haydock (2m) in May. Well below that level in 3 outings since but, given who trains him, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see him bounce back to form here.
Useful performer in Ireland a couple of seasons back but struggled in two starts for Roger Varian last year. Efforts in pair of big-field 1½m handicaps at Ascot this term for new yard not devoid of promise but he still needs to prove himself at this trip.
Struck in the big-field Melrose Handicap at York (1¾m). last season. Added another nice prize at Haydock (2m) in May and travelled well for a long way when sixth of 20 in Northumberland Plate (2m) last month. Big player back at 1¾m.
Pair of AW wins last year. Ran quite well on his reappearance but hasn't been in the same form in 3 starts since. Good claimer takes 5 lb off but others have more obvious claims.
Better than ever when winning at Salisbury (1½m) and Newmarket (1¾m) on first 2 outings this year. Left the impression he should have finished closer (met some trouble) when seventh of 18 in Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot. Respected.
Big improver when racking up a 4-timer on AW in second half of 2021 but not seen since finishing a well-held third on hurdle debut over Christmas. May resume his progression back on the Flat but needs to show he's as good on turf and peak fitness has to be taken on trust.
Boasts plenty of solid form in handicaps and capitalised on the drop in to calmer waters to end a losing run in 4-runner 1½m handicap here last month. Still to be asked fo his effort when badly hampered 2f out in Newmarket race won by Soapy Stevens last time (treated as if still in form).
Steadily progressive 4-y-o who arrives on the back of wins over 1¾m at Newmarket and Ascot in recent weeks. Those came in smallish fields and more will be needed in this deeper affair but he is going the right way.
Pair of AW wins at start of year and also successful on Rowley course at Newmarket in May. Career best when short-headed by Soapy Stevens at Newmarket (1¾m) 22 days ago. Unexposed at this trip.

A truly-run 2m seemed to stretch VALLEY FORGE's stamina in the Northumberland Plate and he's taken to show he's still on a good mark back at 1¾m. Cemhaan was better than the result in the Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot and could be the one to give Andrew Balding's charge most to think about ahead of Soapy Stevens, one of 3 contenders for a stable which has won this 4 times since 2015.
