Regained winning thread at Ascot (14f) 12 months ago and placed on 2 of last 3 starts to end the campaign. Found Old Newton Cup at Haydock too competitive on second start this year but this is less demanding.

Australia gelding who showed improved form to land first 3 starts in handicaps at up to 14f last term. Lightly raced thereafter, last of 7 at Kempton (2m) in September. Had wind op ahead of this return and he represents a yard in fine form. One to consider.

Forecasts

Fair Star (11/8), Way Of Life (11/5), Vindolanda (13/2), Maketh Believeth (7/1), Yagan (10/1)

Verdict

WAY OF LIFE picked up the progressive thread late last year and has continued the good work this time around, completing the 5-timer at Newbury in May. Hard to knock his efforts in defeat since, he looks sure to go well again up in trip. Sir Mark Prescott has his team in fine fettle and his Yagan is of interest on return, with Vindolanda also considered back in calmer waters.
