All weather novice winner (9.5f) during the winter who ran best race in handicaps when runner-up in first-time blinkers at Leicester (11.8f) in April. Not in same form at Goodwood (12f) in June and others more appealing for win purposes.
Came good at second attempt in handicaps when seeing off 2 rivals at Salisbury (12f) in June but could only run to a similar level when third of 4 at Ascot (12f) since. Longer trip may unlock a little more progress.
Better for the change of tactics (held up, overcame pace bias) when landing 6-runner Windsor handicap (11.5f) in May. Not in anything like the same form at Bath (13f) 5 weeks ago but returns with yard firmly amongst the winners. Not dismissed with cheekpieces added.
Won back to back at Wolverhampton in the spring and, on the back of 3 runners-up efforts, he duly resumed winning ways at Newmarket (12f) 12 days ago, tackled over 1f out and asserting last ½f. Hard to rule out in this groove.
Race-by-race progress in novice/maidens at up to 1m as a 2-y-o and, despite being a bit fresh on back of 7 months off, he was noted keeping on gradually for third on handicap bow at Haydock (11.6f) 4 weeks ago. Of interest upped further in trip.
Fair maiden who ran up to best when fourth in first-time cheekpieces at Ffos Las (10f) 3 weeks ago, no extra final 1f. Has plenty of stamina on dam's side if blinkers/longer trip ekes out some progress.

Having showed race-by-race progress over shorter trips as a juvenile, there was definite encouragement to glean from TUDDENHAM GREEN's return/handicap debut third over shorter at Haydock 4 weeks ago and, with further progress in the offing now his stamina is drawn out further, he could be the answer. Pons Aelius is proving a model of consistency and is feared, along with Rushford and First Officer.
